HAPPY NEW YEAR -OR- I OWE YOU NOTHING

A friend of mine once mentioned that one doesn't "have to learn" a language, but that it is a privilege and a blessing. She says she "treats" herself to a new language every 2 years.

And once again it is all about our choice of words. I have decided in 2017 I will work on doing things because I want to do them. To find joy in the process. Things to learn in the process.

I feel that too many times I do things because "they" expect them from me. Whoever "they" is. This is what I have to say to "them":

I OWE YOU NOTHING

Being free to live includes freeing myself from the dictatorship that makes me feel that I "have to" do certain things and live a certain way. Keep staring and shaking your pretty heads. I don't care. Not this year. 2017 owes me nothing and will give me everything. Why? Because I will do what it takes to get it!

2016 - RESOLUTIONS

Over the last couple of months, I came across a few sheets of paper with NEW YEAR resolutions of the past few years, probably of the last decade. Turns out they were more or less the same.

  • lose weight
  • declutter
  • get organized
  • keep house clean
  • improve piano skills
  • learn new language
The amount I wanted to lose, or the language I wanted to work on has varied over the years, but all in all it has stayed the same. My conclusion? Obviously not much has changed.

This year I have changed my approach. I obviously won't be losing the 66 lbs I want to lose, neither will I be selling tickets for my piano concerts. What I have done is look at WHY I fail to achieve those goals.

Lets take losing weight. This is what stops me:

  • eating to much
  • eating at the wrong time
  • eating the wrong thing
  • not working out
  • turning to food for comfort
This is what I am planning on doing to fix it:

  • have fixed meal times
  • have a meal plan
  • start with a 5 min work out routine and increase it gradually
  • find a different way of dealing with stress.
By not picking a certain number of pounds to lose this year I hope to take some of the stress of it away. I want to focus on a healthier me, not on the magic number.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My big resolution is to be happier. Happyness is a choice. I am convinved if I learn to be happier, many other things will simply happen.

  • Happy people don't eat because they are stressed.
  • Happy people don't need to be prepared for every tiny thing
  • Happy people aren't overwhelmed when they need to leave the house
  • Happy people don't mind cleaning up the kitchen.
See. Only great stuff in store for happy people. So today I happily started my new year. And simply got to work.

Surface of the day:kitchen counter

7 a day: 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of tights, hm. That's only 2 hahaha

PS: What's up with forgetting to post stuff?
